Cosmetic injections utilize a class of injectable proteins known as neurotoxins which aid in the relaxation of muscles that cause wrinkles when contracted from facial expression. When the muscles are relaxed, the face looks smooth. These injectables help relax the muscles to soften fine lines and wrinkles.
Neurotoxins are best for patients who have visible wrinkles during dynamic muscle movement, but minimal or fine static lines, meaning when you are at rest. They can also be used as a preventative treatment for fine lines and wrinkles even on patients who are not showing a lot of fine lines yet. Also known as neuromodulators, neurotoxins are not meant to be used everywhere on the face, only in certain locations which are determined by a trained provider.
Botox® is the first original cosmetic and therapeutic neuromodulator. Jeuveau is the newest neurotoxin on the market, sometimes referred to as “Newtox” Xeomin® contains isolated toxins without the accessory protein that the other brands have (though it performs similarly) Dysport®
Most neurotoxin effects typically last three to four months on average.
The short answer is yes. In the experienced hands, these injections are considered very safe and undergo extremely rigorous safety testing in order to obtain FDA approvals. Neurotoxins were initially approved in 2002 in the United States.
That said, you should avoid neurotoxins if you are allergic to any of the ingredients, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have certain neuromuscular disorders such as Guillain-Barre or Myasthenia Gravis.
Yes, but they're typically mild. Side effects can include swelling, rash, headache, local numbness, pain at the injection site and bruising. The most common side effects include a slight headache or bruising. Rarely side effects may include respiratory problems, allergic reactions or eyelid ptosis.
The cost of this treatment varies greatly in different parts of the world from a few hundred dollars to several thousand based on the material used and the areas covered. The cost may vary greatly even in different clinics that are in the same geographical location. You should educate yourself well and prioritize your decision based on the qualifications of the provider and the clinic that provides the service.
We charge our patients for neurotoxins based on the area that is treated rather than the units of the substance used. We chose this pricing method since we strongly believe that every individual patient is different. Our providers evaluate the patient and advise them on the safest most effective course of treatment for their individual needs.
Dr. Crupper has recently become my primary physician and with his help and guidance I have been sleeping better and working towards overall wellness. I also purchased the new 2BWell products for massage and body aches and am pleasantly surprised at how well they work, as well as how little goes such a long way. They are affordable and the magnesium spray helps my tired feet feel rejuvenated.
We found 2bWell when one of my children could not get help from western docs. Turns out they had a genetic enzyme deficiency that was easily solved with supplements. Our family began working with Dr. Brush at the clinic. For myself, I've experienced a reduction in sickness overall - it's been a good experience for me and my family.
As one who had never tried eastern medicine, I was apprehensive about trying something so...foreign. Siamak Shirazi has shared his years of practice and knowledge to help me physically as well as emotionally. He has gone above and beyond what a typical practitioner offers. Siamak and his friendly staff have been a huge support for me since I first walked through the door!
Being newly diagnosed with cancer was both stressful and tiring. Acupuncture treatments have alleviated the fatigue, reduced the anxiety, and given me the energy to improve my health. Dr. Siamak Shirazi's caring, treatments and suggestions for integrated mind/body wellness have been a wonderful balance to support, and augment the standard westernized treatments of blood counts and CT scans. I am feeling stronger in facing this challenge.
This clinic is awesome! Can't recommend the team up at 2BWELL enough! I lost my previous healthcare provider suddenly and they adapted my healthcare to the 2BWELL clinic in Portland Oregon and they have worked closely and quickly with my case. I really am glad to be in their care! I would recommend them and Dr.Huffman in particular for primary care, mental healthcare and hormone management. I'm glad to have this clinic in my corner during a tough transition period.
I saw Dr. Michael Crupper, ND, LAc, two days ago for a lower back injury and pain. I was very impressed by his accurate diagnosis, compassionate approach, and excellent bedside manner. I'm already noticing improvement in my recovery. I'd also like to thank the office staff—especially Angie—for her help with scheduling and support. Overall, it was an outstanding experience, and I highly recommend 2B WELL for their exceptional care.
Mia Crupper, ND (Dr. Mia) is a naturopathic physician, midwife, and doula. Dr. Mia grew up in Kona, Hawai'i, where she was raised in the Hawaiian traditional healing arts of 'ai pono (healthy eating), ho'oponopono (emotional/spiritual balance), lomilomi (massage), and la'au lapa'au (plant medicine). This connection to the healing power of the 'aina (land/nature) led to an early discovery of natural medicine.
During undergraduate studies, Dr. Mia concurrently pursued becoming a massage therapist at Hawaiian Island School of Massage Therapy and Honolulu School of Massage, double-minored in 'Olelo Hawai'i and dance, and then developed and graduated with the first Health Sciences Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Hawai'i Manoa.

In 2006, Dr. Mia volunteered at Yayasan Bumi Sehat, catching babies and providing acute medical care to the surrounding communities. She has been in clinical practice since 2006, specializing in biological female health, prenatal supportive care, dermatology, gut health, and minor surgery. Dr. Mia also provides aesthetic medicine, creating holistic anti-aging and beauty treatments.
She worked as an assistant professor at the University of Western States for 14 years, educating future clinicians in her areas of specialty and fulfilling the naturopathic principle of Docere (doctor as teacher). She continues to incorporate physical medicine, activator, and Perineural Injection Therapy (PIT) in conjunction with naturopathic and hormonal therapies for patients. Dr. Mia is passionate about supporting patients in discovering the root cause of their illness and working towards optimal health.
Dr. Mia is the mother to a bright little girl and is married to an amazing husband. The three of them enjoy adventuring together in the PNW with their sweet dog. In her free time, she loves to hike, camp, paddleboard, listen to music, and read.
