Acupuncture works by stimulating the meridians that either end or begin at the face and balancing the flow of energy at the same time. Cosmetic acupuncture treats the underlying factors that contribute to the aging process. This involves the insertion of hair-thin disposable needles into specific areas on the face, ears, and hands. The needles are inserted into the energy pathways or meridians to improve the flow of Qi.

As the movement of energy improves, a greater amount of energy and blood are circulated to the face, nourishing, hydrating, toning and diminishing the appearance of wrinkles. At the same time we attend to the outside (what you see) and use some additional acupuncture points (usually on the arms and around ankles) to work on the inside. This works holistically, both on the physical appearance and on the underlying factors which influence that.

According to the World Health Organization, acupuncture is an effective treatment for such conditions as:

  • Pain – headache, carpal tunnel, arthritis, bursitis, tendinitis
  • Stress – anxiety, insomnia, TMJ, panic attacks
  • Respiratory – allergies, sinusitis, asthma, bronchitis, colds, flu
  • Digestive – constipation, diarrhea, colitis, ulcers, indigestion, nausea
  • Cardiovascular – hypertension, heart palpitations
  • Musculoskeletal – stiff neck, muscle spasms, low back pain, sprains, sciatica, any joint-related pain, foot pain, hand pain
  • Immune system – chronic fatigue, rheumatoid arthritis
  • Gynecological – PMS, infertility, irregular periods, cramps, menopause
  • Emotional – depression, alternative to some psychiatric drug therapies, PMS, nausea, associated with pregnancy
  • Neurological – Post-stroke sequelae, paralysis, Bell's palsy, shingles
  • Cancer – diminishes side effects from chemotherapy and radiation
  • Preventative medicine – immune enhancement, relaxation
  • Non-surgical face lifts – tones and tightens facial muscles, increases circulation, rejuvenates tissue
  • Surgical Support – reduces swelling and inflammation, accelerates healing, boosts the immune system, increases range of motion
  • Addictions – nicotine, alcohol, drugs

Yes, not only is 2BWell one of the first acupuncture clinics to be established in the Portland Metro area, we have made cosmetic acupuncture a core offering at our clinic.

Cosmetic acupuncture is an effective, non-surgical treatment to reduce the signs of aging. It uses very thin disposable needles specifically designed for use on the face to promote vitality throughout the facial muscles and skin. It is a gentle form of acupuncture that has the greatest effect over a series of treatments, and it works harmoniously with other cosmetic injection therapies like Botox®.
